Built in 1881 for Richard D’Oyly Carte by the architect CJ Phipps, the Savoy Theatre was the first public building in the world to be lit throughout by electricity. The Auditorium and front of house are in a wonderful art deco style, with aluminum leaf finishes and a five-colour seating scheme and the whole theatre is worthy of being in the same building as the iconic Savoy Hotel. Enter Savoy Court and, to the right, just before you get to the hotel entrance, you will see the theatre entrance. As you enter the box office windows are on your right, whilst to your left the stairs go down to the theatre auditorium, as most of this theatre is below the street level of the Strand. Hotels close to the Savoy Theatre

The Royal Horseguards and the Clermont Charing Cross are two excellent 5 star hotels within  just a couple of minutes walking distance and the Strand Palace Hotel and the Wilde Aparthotel Covent Garden are two four star hotels also nearby. that will offer a high class level of accommodation and service.

If budget is important, the  three star Thistle Bloomsbury Park is still less than a mile away and actually I don’t mind a walk through London’s West End at the end of the night, so for me, I get a walk and save my money, so it is a win win!

If you don’t fancy a walk or you are staying in a different part of London, just hail a cab or head to Covent Garden or Charing Cross or Embankment tube stations to get to one of Theatre Breaks’ hundred central London hotels for your Mean Girls and hotel package.
