But the fabulous doesn’t stop there. This uproariously dark comedy about a miserable, suffocated Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to her husband’s theatre based assassination, will see the return to the West End of none other than Catherine Tate!

Written by award winning Cole Escola, this tale of unrequited yearning, alcoholism, and suppressed desires is a 80-minute one-act play that finally examines the forgotten life and dreams of Mrs Lincoln, through the lens of an idiot (OK, that’s playwright Cole Escola too).

The New York Times, said that Oh Mary! is “one of the best comedies in years”. Cole, who played Mrs L on Broadway, got a Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Play. The plaudits didn’t stop there and Best Direction of a Play went to Sam Pinkleton.

Oh Mary! London Theatre BreaksSo my question to Catherine Tate, is how does it feel to follow Cole and Mason? I know Catherine is the big  name, but I’m really just as  interested in seeing Mason. This sort of thing is never about “better” but having seen both performers on screen, I am very interested to see what both will bring to a role in the intimate, live space of the Trafalgar Theatre. So I guess I’ll be seeing this one twice :-)

What Theatre is Oh Mary! on at and where is it?

The Trafalgar Theatre in on Whitehall, number 14, just south of Trafalgar Square, in London.

You can get there from Charing Cross Tube station or Leicester Square. What a super summer’s evening walk that will be: across the square, past the lions and Nelson. Gosh I love London!

When can I book a Oh Mary! and hotel package for?

We have theatre and hotel packages available to book from this week right through to 18 July 2026.

If you want to see Mason, go before 25 April.

If you want to see Catherine, book your break from 27 April.

The show, just has one act which is 80 minutes long and starts at 19:30 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and 20:45 on Thursdays when there is also a matinee at 17:30. There is also a matinee on Saturdays at 15:30.

Just to clarify, there is no interval.

What hotels are close to the Trafalgar Theatre?

There aren’t many cheap hotels close to the theatre as they are mostly 4 and 5 star hotels in the area. The Clermont Charing Cross, the Royal Horseguards, the Thistle Trafalgar Square and the Radisson Blu Leicester Square are ones within a 10 minute walk.

So if you are looking to save some pennies, make that walk across the square back to the tube station and head out to Bloomsbury, Kensington  or south of the river: The Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, although it is a four star hotel has some good deals!

Tell me more about the stars of Oh Mary!?

Mason Alexander Park is a genre-defying performer whose career bridges theatre, television, and music with striking originality.

They first gained major recognition for their Olivier Award-winning performance as the Emcee in Cabaret, bringing a dangerous glamour and emotional complexity to the iconic role. On stage, they have built a reputation for fearless, transformative performances, embracing roles that challenge convention and celebrate individuality. Their work often blends dark humour, vulnerability, and bold physicality, reflecting a deep commitment to expressive storytelling.

Alongside acting, Park is also a musician, using their voice to explore identity and emotion beyond traditional theatre spaces. Whether in London’s West End or on screen, Mason Alexander Park continues to redefine what a modern performer can be

Known for their fearless theatricality and emotional precision, Park transforms the show’s absurdist humour into something intimate and strangely poignant. Their performance balances flamboyant comedy with flashes of vulnerability, inviting the audience to laugh while sensing the fragile truths underneath.
