If you love Jane Austen, you will LOVE Austentatious

Austentatious is a wildly inventive and joyously funny improvised comedy show that has become a standout hit in London’s West End theatre scene. Launched in 2011 in London and now a beloved regular at the Vaudeville Theatre, this unique production takes the beloved style of Jane Austen’s novels and transforms it into completely spontaneous, laugh-out-loud theatre.

Each performance begins with an audience member suggesting a title for a “lost” Austen novel — anything from Bath to the Future to Strictly Come Darcy — and from that prompt an all-star cast of improvisers invents a full Regency-era comedy on the spot. The result is a fresh, unpredictable story every night, brimming with witty dialogue, exaggerated period characters, swooning romantic moments, and absurd twists that keep audiences roaring with laughter.

Performers dress in full period costume and are supported by live musical accompaniment, which heightens both the comedy and the nods to classic Austen tropes. This blend of clever improvisation, theatrical flair, and audience interaction means no two shows are ever the same, making it an ideal night out whether you’re a Jane Austen fan or simply love bold, inventive comedy. Critics and audiences alike have praised Austentatious for its razor-sharp humour and boundless energy, often comparing its witty spontaneity to the joy of discovering a hidden or forgotten work of classic literature — only with far more laughter.

Running approximately 1 hour 45 minutes with an interval and recommended for audiences aged 14 and over, this brilliant comedy blends Regency elegance with improvisational hilarity for a distinctly unforgettable night out in London.
