What are good plays and comedies to see in London?
Every year the stars come to appear in great productions of well known plays and comedies. The classics: Shakespeare are always in good supply but both new plays and classics also attract the big name actors from all over the world.
The end of 2026 is seeing some great plays coming to town, including Kiera Knightly in The Lives of Others and Gillian Anderson in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf. Whilst Amadeus starring Michael Sheen, Ivanov and Death of a Salesman are already listed for 2027.
Stand out comedies include Hay Fever starring Richard E Grant and Christine Baranski, Austentatious and The Play That Goes Wrong.
Over the next month we will be extending our list of theatre breaks that feature the spoken word rather than musicals.
Here are a few of the most popular at the moment.
