My Neighbour Totoro London Theatre Breaks

Be transported to the 1950s Tokyo countryside and a fantastical world of forest spirits in the RSC’s My Neighbour Totoro:  a coming-of-age tale based on the 1988 Studio Ghibli film of the same name.

The multi-award-winning, ‘jaw-dropping’ (Metro)  production  returns to London to tell the story of two young girls, Satsuki and Mei, who are forced to move to the countryside, with their father, when their mother is hospitalized.

A summer of adventures follow as they explore their new surroundings and meet woodland spirits, sprites and magical creatures, including the furry giant, Totoro.

Here’s a trailer.

The award winning  creative team, includes director Phelim McDermott, production designer Tom Pye and costume designer Kimie Nakano. Not forgetting puppetmaster Basil Twist, whose “wind spirits” will hold you in awe for the entire show.
