But the fabulous doesn’t stop there. This uproariously dark comedy about a miserable, suffocated Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to her husband’s theatre based assassination, sees the return to the West End of none other than Catherine Tate!
Written by award winning Cole Escola, this tale of unrequited yearning, alcoholism, and suppressed desires is a 80-minute one-act play that finally examines the forgotten life and dreams of Mrs Lincoln, through the lens of an idiot (OK, that’s playwright Cole Escola too).
The New York Times, said that Oh Mary! is “one of the best comedies in years”. Cole, who played Mrs L on Broadway, got a Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Play. The plaudits didn’t stop there and Best Direction of a Play went to Sam Pinkleton.
Here at Theatre Breaks we are really excited to see Catherine Tate in the role in the intimate, live space of the Trafalgar Theatre.
What Theatre is Oh Mary! on at and where is it?
The Trafalgar Theatre in on Whitehall, number 14, just south of Trafalgar Square, in London.
You can get there from Charing Cross Tube station or Leicester Square. What a super summer’s evening walk that will be: across the square, past the lions and Nelson. Gosh I love London!

We have theatre and hotel packages available to book from this week right through to 18 July 2026.
The show, just has one act which is 80 minutes long and starts at 19:30 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and 20:45 on Thursdays when there is also a matinee at 17:30. There is also a matinee on Saturdays at 15:30.
Just to clarify, there is no interval.
What hotels are close to the Trafalgar Theatre?
There aren’t many cheap hotels close to the theatre as they are mostly 4 and 5 star hotels in the area. The Clermont Charing Cross, the Royal Horseguards, the Thistle Trafalgar Square and the Radisson Blu Leicester Square are ones within a 10 minute walk.
So if you are looking to save some pennies, make that walk across the square back to the tube station and head out to Bloomsbury, Kensington or south of the river: The Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, although it is a four star hotel has some good deals!
