Burlesque Theatre Breaks
Like a quick flash of side boob on a red carpet, of an opening night, Burlesque The Musical will be making a brief appearance at the Savoy Theatre this summer. So book your Burlesque and hotel package and let those pasties twirl.
This is the musical version of the smash hit movie that starred Cher, Christina Aguilera, Alan Cumming, Eric Dane, Cam Gigandet, Julianne Hough, Peter Gallagher, Kristen Bell and Stanley Tucci et al.
It stopped off at Manchester and Glasgow before arriving in London, so we know it is a little bobby dazzler if a show!
The story, if you haven’t seen the movie goes like this. When Ali heads to New York City in search of her mother, she finds herself drawn into a dazzling underground world of music and dance that will change her life forever.
A scintillating journey of self-discovery that absolutely sizzles with songs by Christina Aguilera, Sia and Diane Warren, alongside additional songs by Todrick Hall and Jess Folley.
This not the first time that Burlesque has been on the Strand. In fact The Strand has been a home to burlesque since the late 1800’s. So as you wander up the famous street, know that you are not the first. I’m not sure burlesque has been seen at the Savoy before… maybe D’Oyley Carte did a burlesque version of The Pirates of Penzance back in the day. That could work. The Slave of Beauty!
Anyway! Back to your Burlesque theatre break.
Burlesque and Hotel Packages
We stayed at the Strand Palace Hotel last time we saw a show on the Strand. It is so handy. The Clermont London Charing Cross is also a great choice – their breakfasts are great.
If you want to go 5 star then look no further than the Royal Horseguards and if you fancy a swim then try The Londoner with their excellent pool and spa.
If you don’t want to spend so much wander along the river. Still within a mile of the theatre is the Mercure London Bridge or the Tower Hotel.
Otherwise it is no hardship to hop on the tube and head for Kensington or Lancaster Gate and pick up a bargain in one of the hotels in these areas just a few stops away.
