Marley was dead: to begin with

It’s Christmas Eve, and the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge receives a chilling visit from the ghost of his former partner Jacob Marley.

Bound in chains for a lifetime of greed, Marley warns Scrooge it isn’t too late to change his fate, but only if he survives three more ghostly encounters.

With eerie Victorian special effects to match its surroundings in the Victoria Alexandra Palace Theatre (see below) and spine-tingling storytelling, prepare to be frightened and delighted in equal measure as you enter the supernatural world of A Christmas Carol.

A Christmas Carol A Ghost Story Cast

Neil Morrissey, beloved for Men Behaving Badly and Waterloo Road, will appear as Jacob Marley, and Matthew Cottle (Bridgerton and The Windsors), reprises his role as Scrooge.

And we know it is going to be good because it was at the Alexandra Palace in 2023 too! This Christmas, the haunting returns.

The Alexandra Palace Theatre

The Alexandra Palace Theatre, in Alexandra Park in north London, is a unique theatre, lost in time. With stunningly preserved original 1875 features, the atmospheric Alexandra Palace Theatre will be the perfect setting for Dickens’ most haunting Christmas tale.

What is a good hotel for A Christmas Carol A Ghost Story at the Alexandra Palace Theatre?

The Best Western London Highbury is our closest hotel to the Alexandra Palace Theatre. Normally I would also suggest any hotel on the Northern Line as the theatre is just a short walk from Alexandra Palace Station, through glorious Alexandra Park. But on the basis that any audience member for A Christmas Carol will be doing that walk in the dead of winter, I would instead suggest picking the closest hotel and getting a taxi to the theatre!

If you do want to hit the underground to get into central London the London Highbury is situated just a 5 minute walk from both Finsbury Park and Manor House Underground Stations.
