Damian Lewis, will return to Theatreland in 2017 to star in Edward Albee’s darkly comic masterpiece, The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia?
Star of hit TV series Homeland, Lewis portrays a man at the pinnacle of life: he has a loving wife and son, a hugely successful career as an architect, and the commission of a lifetime, but when he embarks upon an improbable and impossible love affair from which there is no return, familial relationships begin to collapse.
The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia? was last in London in 2004 at the Apollo theatre and starred Jonathan Pryce as husband Martin and a young Eddie Redmayne for which he won the Evening Standard Theatre Award for Outstanding Newcomer.
The new production, which will run from 24 March to 24 June 2017, will be directed by Ian Rickson, formerly Artistic Director of London’s Royal Court Theatre. Check availability here
The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia? will be the second production of an Edward Albee play in 2017, with news of this production following hot on the heals of the announcement last week that Imelda Staunton will star in Who’s Afriad of Virginia Woolf from February 2017.
