The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button London Theatre Breaks

Under the light of a full moon, something most curious occurs… Benjamin Button (played by John Dagleish)  is born old. Bound to the fate of growing younger each day, Benjamin wants nothing more than to live a little life. But will he ever find a place to belong? Only time and tide will tell…

An electrifying journey through the timeless tale of a love that defies all odds, this fabulous story is told by a thirteen-strong cast of actor-musicians.  Theatre for a unique chance to catch this enchantingly beautiful and truly unordinary new musical.

Interestingly the musical version of the Benjamin Button story has been relocated to a fishing village on the north coast of Cornwall by writing team Jethro Compton and Darren Clark with a breath-taking  score, primarily folk-based, with influences from Celtic music and sea shanties brought to life by the actor-musician ensemble.

It’s actually a two show summer for F. Scott Fitzgerald as Theatre Breaks audiences enjoy musical versions of two of his great novels: The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button and The Great Gatsby. (more Gatsby info elsewhere).

Benjamin Button Awards

The foot-stomping and award-winning musical, won three awards at the Olivier’s in 2025 including best new musical, Outstanding Musical Contribution and John Dagleish won Best Actor in a Musical. I remember John from the Kinks musical, Sunny Afternoon – he was brilliant in that too.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, arrives in London’s West End after capturing hearts and selling out at Southwark Playhouse. The Ambassador’s Theatre is not a big theatre, only just over 400 seats . This makes for a delightfully intimate evening,  but also not very many seats – so plan ahead.

Benjamin Button Theatre Breaks

The Ambassadors Theatre is next to The St Martins Theatre, just near Covent Garden and Seven Dials, so the loveley Radisson Blu Hotel London Mercer Street is  your nearest hotel, but it can be bloomin’ expensive! There’s a deal on some nights at the Hotel Indigo London near Leicester Square and the Strand Palace is a good price.

The three star Thistle Bloomsbury Park usually does the job for me and it is only half a mile away and again there are some great summer deals.
