top-uk-shows Miss SaigonThis epic love story is ‘The Most Thrilling and Emotionally Stirring musical in the West End’ (Dominic Cavendish, The Daily Telegraph) and brings audiences to their feet with soaring music, breathtaking action and spectacular staging.

Full information about the West End season, including dates and casting, will be announced later but this is what we know for now…

The production will return to London in May 2027. I am guessing that the idea is to have it well and truly established in town for a big 40th Anniversary Extravaganza in 2029

The new production is directed by Jean-Pierre van der Spuy, with Chrissie Cartwright and Carrie-Anne Ingrouille as co-choreographers.

Set and costume design are by Andrew D. Edwards, with lighting by Bruno Poet, sound design by Adam Fisher and video design by George Reeve. Graham Hurman is the musical supervisor.

Looking back – The history of Miss Saigon in London

Since Miss Saigon’s sensational record-breaking run at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane it has played all around the world, in countless cities in many languages and it continues to win  awards wherever it goes. This epic musical love story tells the tragic tale of a young bar girl Kim, orphaned by war, who falls in love with an American GI called Chris – but their lives are torn apart by the fall of Saigon. The story is very romantic and the show will be the perfect highlight to a London theatre break for couples, whether they are still dating or celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary!

The writers of Miss Saigon are the same team behind Les Miserables which just recently was also made into a smash hit movie!

When it returned for its 25th it was even more sensational than when it was first here.

I was SOOOOOOOO excited about Miss Saigon coming back to London. It's been my most favourite of all musicals since seeing it back in 1990. Just loved, loved, loved it to bits and constantly play the sound-track - still!

However, I was ever so slightly disappointed by the changes made to this current version. For me, it didn't need the swearing and sexual connotations. The casting of Chris being 6'4" and King being 4' nothing didn't work. It just looked so awkward when they were stood next to each other.

My favourite song "I'll Give My Life For You" didn't have the same impact as it does when I listen to it on original, original cast recording CD.

Such a shame because I wanted it it to be absolutely brilliant and it wasn't. Also, tickets were blooming expensive and 2 people were let in an hour into the performance and were sitting right in the middle of our row. So during a beautiful rendition of "I Still Believe" we all had to stand up and move bags, coats, etc whilst these 2 selfish people disrupted the performance. VERY BAD SHOW FROM THE THEATRE. I did complain, but nothing was done about.

Sorry to be such a downer, but why did they have to change anything about the show? It was perfect as it was. 'Nuff said.
