15/02/2013 A Chorus Line in London

Hi Theatre-goers

I really loved watching A Chorus Line at the London Palladium on Monday night. Although it officially opens next Tuesday 19th February it has already had to extend its initial booking period to January 2014. This, I can assure you, is well justified.

I was a bit daunted by the fact that there is no interval, but fortunately the two hour show zipped along at a fast pace and I never once thought about the time.  Actually, this is not the type of show where you could imagine having an interval as all the stories, songs and dance run smoothly into one another with lots of laughs along the way.

Who will get the part? Determined dancers Shiela, Diana and Cassie with director Zach

The ensemble cast all play their parts superbly with a stand out performance from John Partridge as director, Zach. I realised I have seen him in other West End shows, but it wasn’t until A Chorus Line that I actually sat and took note. Boy, he can dance!

I loved the 1970s feel to the show – the outfits were horrendous (in a good way) and the performers gave a real sense of New York life as they regaled their stories of how they came to be on the stage. Very very entertaining.

To sum up, it’s a magnificent feel-good show and I urge you to book your theatre break to see A Chorus Line now before the critics make it impossible to buy a tickets with what are bound to be 5 star reviews.

Have a great weekend everyone
