It seems a long time since the last Tina Turner musical, Soul Sister, came to London, although it is actually only 5 years, but, here at Theatre Breaks, everyone loves a bit of Tina, so the opening of Tina – The Tina Turner Musical at the Aldwych Theatre in March 2018, is welcome news.
The difference with this new show is it is produced in association with Tina Turner herself!
“I am so excited to be bringing my musical to the West End! London is a place that means so much to me and had such a big impact on my music and my life. Returning now to tell my full story, in the city I love, feels like an important chapter and is truly exciting.” TINA TURNER
From humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, to her transformation into the global Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Tina Turner didn’t just break the rules, she rewrote them. This new stage musical reveals the untold story of a woman who dared to defy the bounds of her age, gender and race.
One of the world’s best-selling artists of all time, Tina Turner has won 11 Grammy Awards and her live shows have been seen by millions, with more concert tickets sold than any other solo performer in music history.
Featuring her much loved songs, TINA – The Tina Turner Musical is written by Olivier Award-winning playwright Katori Hall and directed by the internationally acclaimed Phyllida Lloyd who is probably best known for directing the smash hit musical Mamma Mia! Don’t miss this world premiere, opening at London’s Aldwych Theatre this Spring!
