Theatre Breaks Deals for Witness for the Prosecution

The London production of Agatha Christie’s classic courtroom drama, Witness for the Prosecution, will surely become just as much a feature of the West End Theatre programme as its more famous thrilling sibling: The Mousetrap. Book your theatre break today.

Witness for the Prosecution – the story

Mrs Emily French, a glamourous and extremely wealthy widow, has been killed in her grand London townhouse. The prime suspect is her new lover and war veteran Leonard Vole. Suspiciously, Leonard Vole is next in line to inherit Mrs French’s abundant wealth.
Did he murder Mrs French?
Can he convince the jury that he is innocent?

Praised as an immersive, atmospheric, and gripping experience, Witness for the Prosecution is uniquely staged within the magnificent Council Chamber of London’s County Hall on the banks of the River Thames.

The County Hall has been transformed into a court room and audiences will take a seat right in the heart of the action and be transported back to the 1920s, witnessing a gripping murder case.

The Cast

Harry Chandler as  Leonard Vole has also been seen in London in Outlaws: The Ballad of Billy the Kid (The Other Palace); Mozart: Her Story (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane) and Les Misérables (Sondheim Theatre).

Charlotte Beaumont (Regents Park Open Air Theatre and National Theatre) plays Romaine Vole Leonard’s wife, whose testimony is crucial to the case and JONATHAN FIRTH plays Sir Wilfrid Robarts, Q.C the defence barrister who is engaged by Mr Mayhew (Nigel Hastings) to defend Leonard.

Directed by Lucy Bailey (Titus Andronicus), Witness for the Prosecution brilliantly captures the intensity of Christie’s classic murder mystery, keeping the audience  enthralled in this intense drama, as revelation upon revelation reveal the truth in this riveting whodunit.

Intense? You betcha!

This  edge-of-your-seat drama: is a classic Agatha Christie “whodunnit,” play packed with twists and turns at every moment: keeping the audience guessing until the very end.

Nearby Hotels to the County Hall for Theatre breaks

As this venue is not normally a theatre, the list of nearby hotels throws up some lovely new options that you might not have stayed in before. The Park Plaza County Hall and Westminster Bridge are the closest hotels. They are excellent modern 4 star hotels with a range if rooms available to book in your theatre break. Check out their excellent restaurants too. Perfect for a pre-theatre dinner.

My favourite is probably he Westminster Bridge. During your stay you can enjoy complimentary use of the 15 metre swimming pool and Fitness Suite. Brasserie Joel offers a French brasserie-style menu  or you can plump for Ichi Sushi & Sashimi Bar for excellent Japanese Sushi.

For a great bargain, check out the three star Point A London Westminster. It even has its own pub next door for pre theatre dinner and post theatre drinks! Rooms are minimalist but all have ensuite facilities.

At the other end of the scale – check out the 5 star Royal Horseguards across the river.

Wherever you stay, make sure you walk across the Thames at some point during your stay: day or night you will have a memorable view.
