Just For One Day

Just For One Day and Hotel Packages.

Relive that day in 1985 when , Just for one day, artists including Bob DylanDavid Bowie, The Who, U2, Queen, Madonna, The Police, Elton John, Paul McCartneyDiana Ross and Bob Geldof made history at simultaneous charitable concerts in London and Philadelphia.

Where you there?

I wasn’t. I watched at a mates house with other friends. But some other mates worked for the BBC and did sound on that day for the outside broadcast and they said it was the single most amazing day ever. (and generally sound engineers are not that effusive about anything apart from the latest tech, so it must have been amazing!)

Live Aid was an unprecedented global music event that brought 1.5 billion people together and  raised £150 million for famine relief. We all have a story to tell about ‘the day rock ‘n’ roll changed the world’. Whether you saw it live, watched it from home or weren’t even born yet, you won’t want to miss this “rip-roaring” (The Telegraph) and “remarkable” (Daily Mail) new musical written by John O’Farrell (Mrs. DoubtfireSomething Rotten!) and directed by Luke Sheppard (& JulietThe Little Big Things).

So,  just as  Farah Najib of The Standard said of last year’s production at the old Vic,

If you’re in the mood for a heady cocktail of aggressive nostalgia, 80s bangers, and very impressive singing voices, then this might be the show for you!

Hotels and Just for One Day

The Radisson Blu trio of Bloomsbury hotels are near by – the Bloomsbury, the Tottenham Court Road and the Mercer Street.

More affordable three star hotels nearby include the President, the Bedford and the Thistle Bloomsbury Park (probably the best deal for the best price although it does vary from day to day, so do check).

If you want to stay in a 5 star hotel – try the Mayfair, the Dilly or the Royal Horseguards or the Montcalm Piccadilly! Who knows, you might even see stars from the day itself!
