Theatre Breaks Touring News 10-10/2011

After the Queen Mother asked that writer David Seidler shelve the project during her lifetime theatregoers finally will get the chance to see the stage version of The King’s Speech during a tour of the UK next year before a rumoured West End opening next year.

Starting off at the Richmond Theatre from Monday March 5th to Saturday March 10th, The King’s Speech will then go on to play Guildford, Nottingham, Bath, Brighton and Newcastle.

The King’s Speech is directed by Adrian Noble and stars Charles Edwards as King George VI and Jonathan Hyde who will play Lionel Logue – the speech therapist who is charged to help the king deliver his acceptance speech.

Along with its four Oscars, the screenplay version of The King’s Speech also scooped an impressive seven Baftas.
