Ralph Fiennes and James Dreyfus star in the Matthew Warchus directed Ibsen classic
The Master Builder which opens at the Old Vic theatre at the end of January 2016.

Adapted by multi award winning playwright David Hare, this searing and mesmeric exploration of power, control, death and life sees Halvard Solness, a master architect,  whose life has been filled with building the tallest spires in the land to the detriment of normal social contact. But when Hilde, a radiant country girl, descends unexpectedly into his world, age is confronted by youth, and a series of revelations builds to a vertiginous climax.

Fiennes, recently seen on stage at the National Theatre in George Bernard Shaw’s Man and Superman, is well known as a film actor with a variety of roles ranging from the role of the author in The Reader to Voldemort in the Harry Potter series.

Dreyfus is probably best known for his outrageous camp performance as Tom in the BBC cult-classic sit-com Gimme Gimme Gimme with Kathy Burke, but has recently been seen in the latest series of Sky 1’s Mount Pleasant playing Reverend Roger.
