Sheridan Smith in Funny Girl London Theatre Breaks

Funny Girl theatre breaks have already sold out at the Menier Chocolate Factory and, as the Menier has a good track record of West End transfers, it was no surprise that the show has announced its transfer to the Savoy Theatre in April 2016. Fortunately Smith will move with the show and to the hallowed streets of London’s Theatreland.

Smith was last seen in the West End during the Michael Grandage season of plays at the Noel Coward theatre when she starred opposite David Walliams in A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2013. She has solid musical credentials having picked up one of her two Olivier awards for her starring role in Legally Blonde at the Savoy theatre as well as starring in the aforementioned Cilla where did all her own singing with a spot-on performance of the Liverpool songstress.

Funny Girl, which launched Barbra Streisand’s career, follows the life of Brice as she rises from the Lower East Side of New York to become a huge Broadway star.

Funny Girl and Hotel Accommodation

Nearby the Savoy Theatre is The Savoy Hotel (of course) The Strand palace, The Waldorf, the Kingsway Hall and the Travelodge Covent Garden – so you have a huge range of hotels to chose from.

Underground stations nearby, to which you off to other areas of London, include Covent garden, Charing Cross and Embankment. So wherever you are staying you should have a pleasant and easy short break.
