Ross Noble in Young Frankenstein

Last week the cast was announced for Mel Brookes’ new comedy musical, Young Frankenstein, which opens at the Garrick Theatre in September with Ross Noble leading the cast list.

Lesley Joseph, Hadley Fraser, Dianne Pilkington and Summer Strallen provide the balance between TV names and faces and musical pedigree, although Ross Noble (who will play Igor) is no stranger to musicals, or, indeed, Mel Brookes, as he played Franz Liebkind in the 2015 UK tour or The Producers.

Playing the part of Frau Blucher, Young Frankenstein will see Lesley Joseph’s West End debut, however the TV comedy star is no stranger to the stage having toured the UK with Annie, Calender Girls and Throughly Modern Millie.

Hadley Fraser will play Dr Frederik Frankenstein. He has previously played Marius and Javert in the West End production of Les Miserables. More recently he was a member of the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company at the Garrick Theatre appearing in The Winters Tale and Harlequinade.

Summer Strallen (The Sound of Music, Top Hat) will play Inga. Dianne Pilkington (Les Miserables, Wicked and Mamma Mia!) and Patrick Clancy (The Producers, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) complete the cast list so far.

Young Frankenstein is based on the 1974 film of the same name. It will recieve its premiere at the Theatre Royal Newcastle before opening at London’s Garrick Theatre on 28 September 2017.
