The Weir

The Weir in London

The Weir has now closed in London.

The next show at the Wyndhams theatre is Skylight starring Carey Mulligan Bill Nighy

Somewhere on the west coast of Ireland stands Brendan’s pub, where the locals entertain themselves with ghost stories whilst they drink a few pints of the black stuff. But when a stranger comes to the pub, the evening becomes much more unnerving than anyone could have imagined.

Connor McPherson’s acclaimed play, The Weir, returns to London to entertain (and scare) London audiences from early 2014. Make sure you grab a fireside seat with a London theatre break at the Wyndham’s Theatre on Charing Cross Road.

The London play The Weir won the Lawrence Olivier Award for ‘Best New Play’ in 1997 and, rather excitingly, Josie Rourke’s  production will reunite the original award winning Donmar cast including Ardal O’Hanlon, Brian Cox, Dervla Kirwan, Risteárd Cooper and Peter McDonald.

Performance times for The Weir

Monday to Saturday: 19:30pm
Wednesday and Saturday: 15:00pm

The Weir and Hotel Packages

Of course, with all of those spooky tales still ringing in your ears you will not be wanting to walk far from the theatre. You’ll be glad to know that the old owner of the theatre, Sir Charles Wyndham, chose the Noel Coward Theatre, just behind this one, to haunt, so patrons should be safe inside but once you get out and about in the dark, you’ll be wanting to avoid the more haunted lanes of London’s Theatreland. Of course with a place as old and as busy as London there are always ghosts, but the 5 star Radisson Edwardian Hampshire Hotel is only across the road and you can run back there, shut your bedroom door and hide your head under the pillows as quick as you like – just be careful crossing the road!

Otherwise it is bright lights all the way to the Guoman Charing Cross Hotel. Beautiful inside… its front does look a little Gothic… if you know what I mean!

But wherever you chose to stay, I know you’ll have a great time with a The Weir Theatre Break.
