22 start London Theatre Dash. Olympic-style!

Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, commented: “My message to the good folks around the world is ‘Come to London in 2012 for a year like no other!

Oddly enough for London Theatre it could be exactly like this year.

In a mass move, 22 productions have already extended into 2012 to make sure that Olympic visitors get the chance to book up their theatre tickets almost as early as they were able to book up their Olympic tickets.

The full list of shows that have extended booking into 2012:

The 39 Steps, Billy Elliot The Musical, Blood Brothers, Dreamboats And Petticoats, Ghost The Musical, Jersey Boys, Legally Blonde The Musical, Les Misérables, Disney’s The Lion King, Mamma Mia!, Matilda The Musical, Million Dollar Quartet, The Mousetrap, The Phantom Of The Opera, Rock Of Ages, Shrek The Musical, Stomp, Thriller Live, War Horse, We Will Rock You, Wicked, The Wizard Of Oz and The Woman In Black.

That makes 22 shows extending into 2012 and beyond the Olympics already! That is, in the words of the Society of London Theatre “unprecedented in the history of London theatre“.

Better get booking if you are going to beat all those sporty types to the tickets!

And remember: there is also the Queen’s Golden Jubilee you can book up for!
